Anti Girl Trafficking
The
border areas of our country are most prone to the flesh trade. The
poor socio-economic conditions of border populations make the situation
all the more worse. To understand the enormity of the problem and
develop a focussed strategy to combat girl trafficking, Bhoruka conducted
a research study in 1999 along the Indo-Nepal border.
The study showed a total lack of ownership and awareness of the issue
on the Indian side, not only at the community level but also among
law enforcers.
